Bavarian Inn Community Meeting

The future of the Bavarian Inn property in Lake Ronkonkoma will be discussed at a meeting of the Nesconset-Sachem Civic Association, at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Smithtown public library’s Nesconset branch, 148 Smithtown Blvd.

On April 15, 2007, the once-popular restaurant and catering hall was shut down by Town of Smithtown fire marshals. Suffolk County holds a deed to the property because property owner Vincent Tramontana owes back taxes.

County Legis. John M. Kennedy Jr. (R-Nesconset), who authored a bill authorizing county purchase of the property, has said he would like to see it used as a county park with nonmotorized boating and fishing piers.

At Monday night’s meeting, members of the Walter S. Commerdinger Jr. Preservation Society will present a slideshow and discuss plans for the Inn property.

Anyone familiar with this area knows about the flooding and the great fishing near this location. Lets hope they do something great here. I think paddle boats would be an interesting idea.
