Hoax and Fake Roller Coaster Death Video on FaceBook

Regardless of the name or country or amount of people claimed to be hurt. The roller coaster accident is fake. I see people I know sharing this on Facebook but it is spam or malware and when you click on it you will get a virus. It is a hoax, all of the the many roller coaster death videos that are going viral.

A viral video with “shocking video footage” of a roller coaster accident at Universal Orlando has been circulating social media recently, but the video is actual malware that can damage your computer.

The video, titled “(Shocking Video Footage) 18 Dead in shocking roller coaster accident.” is supposedly from a viral videos website. But it is a fake roller coaster trap to get you to install malware and virus’s instead of watching the fake roller coaster victims falling.

Another variation reads “16 people are confirmed deαd in a roller coaster αccident that occurred at Universal Studios in Florida. Currently there are 8 listed in critical condition at an Orlando Hospital.”

The links are “click tricks” according to Softpedia.com. According to the report, the links don’t take you to a viral video, but rather a page that asks users to install an application called FOXS NEWS (Version 1.2).

The virus requests access to the user’s profile, friend list and email adress, and after installing, it can post to Facebook on the victim’s behalf, allowing scammers to spread fake posts to get users to visit their unsafe websites.

So keep an eye out if you see something about many people dying on a Central Florida theme park roller coaster. Remember if this was to ever happened, you wouldn’t have to wait to hear about it from a Facebook post. It would be confirmed by other sources.

Remember do not click or run programs that you are not aware of the sender. And look at the sender email address, not just the name it shows up under. ( like admin )

Computer safety is important, and there are professionals available to talk to when you have questions. Our ask your friendly IT technician or the office computer engineer a friend or someone if your not sure. Now go find a more positive video too watch!
