New York, Long Island- Nassau police detectives are investigating a homicide after the body of a man was found near Mill Pond Park Preserve in Wantagh Sunday.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Tip Line at Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.

About 4 p.m. Sunday, Seventh Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a body that was found slumped over a log in the preserve, police said.

The man, whom police had not yet identified Sunday, was taken to the Nassau County medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Police Sunday night could not say when an autopsy would be conducted.

Homicide Squad detectives are asking that anyone with information about the victim or the circumstances of his death to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.

A man whose body was found slumped over a fallen tree in a Wantagh park was killed by “numerous stab wounds,” Nassau County police said Tuesday.

Homicide Squad detectives investigating the case have identified the victim as Marvin Antonio Fuentes Serrano, 27, of Roosevelt, police said.

His body was found Sunday at Mill Pond Park Preserve, police said. Police are still looking for anyone with information regarding this case.

A police spokesman, said Monday that Serrano’s injuries made it obvious he had been killed.
