#SPCA Looking for Owner of Abandoned Puppy in Centereach

2/23/2015 : Centereach, NY-

The SPCA reports that the witness observed a woman driving a Ford Expedition throwing the male dog into the bin, located at the intersection of South Coleman Road and Middle Country Road, before driving away. The vehicle was described as black or burgundy, with chrome wheels and a New York state license plate with partial numbers 6744.

The suspect is described as being approximately 39 years old, with long brunette hair and weighing around 150 pounds, according to Suffolk SPCA Chief Roy.

Gross added that the witness happened to pull over at the location to make a phone call when the incident occurred.

“If that person wasn’t there, it would have been likely that the dog would have died in that bin from hypothermia,” Gross said.

The puppy was taken to Selden Animal Emergency Hospital for observation and is now at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. The SPCA is offering a $1000 reward. Callers can remain anonymous.
