How to delete songs from your iOS6 alarm clock on an iPhone?

Are you trying to delete songs from your iOS6 alarm clock feature on an iPhone or iPod?

Well, I have been trying this for about 2 weeks now and can not figure this out at all.

So I searched how to delete the songs in ios6 alarms,  hoping some other people have figured this out already.  To my surprise I did not see much talk about this subject matter at all.  I did find however one person on an apple forum looking for help and no response yet.  So in case this is a new feature on the phone for you, let me explain a little bit here.  You can now wake up to your own songs instead of the default alarm sounds.  Here is a link to a great story on this from CNET.

So I am asking anyone out there, how can you delete the songs in the latest iOS6 version?

I for one have got a few songs in there in a few seconds then couldn’t realize how to get them out.  Even on the Apple Forum today when i wrote this there is still no response.  Granted I still only see one other person asking, but I give him or her credit for actually asking.  Someone needed to put the question out there to the apple support-community, because I know pretty soon you may need to do this as well.  Here is a simple screen shot of my phone, and yes I wake up to Enya.  ( please insert your jokes below) but her music also helps me sleep, just saying.

All jokes aside!! I’m trying to solve this iOS6 alarm clock song deletion.

I will keep looking and as soon as I can figure out how to delete them, I will post the solution here!  I’m sure this is only one of the bugs that will be worked out in an update for the new iOS coming soon.

But if anyone else has the answer already, please comment below.   And thanks in advance for your input.

UPDATE: 10/11/2012 = thanks to a great comment by Chris, we have a temporary fix.  Thanks

UPDATE: 11/6/2012 = iOS 6.0.1 Software Update still did not resolve this issue as per my testing.

UPDATE: for Itunes match users with issues :

UPDATE: 2/1/2013 = After a few days of testing, still not resolved.

UPDATE: 3/22/2013 = This update is more for security reasons and solved an issue of getting into a locked phone. No resolution at this time.

UPDATE: 9/21/2013 = This update for iOS 7.0 is a complete redesign, but does not solve the alarm clock issue.  No resolution at this time.

Apple has released their “iPhone User Guide For iOS6” in the iBooks store.  In the music chapter it specifically states that to be able to delete music you iTunes Match must not be on.

It states:

“When iTunes Match is turned on, you can’t delete music.  If space is needed, iTunes Match removes music for you, starting with the oldest and least played songs.”

So I want to know,  what song’s are you waking up to?

  10. It is indeed my belief that mesothelioma is usually the most dangerous cancer. It contains unusual attributes. The more I actually look at it the greater I am certain it does not respond like a true solid flesh cancer. When mesothelioma is really a rogue viral infection, in that case there is the chance for developing a vaccine in addition to offering vaccination to asbestos exposed people who are vulnerable to high risk connected with developing long term asbestos associated malignancies. Thanks for sharing your ideas for this important health issue.

It’s the only way to solve the problem (I think). I haven’t tried it yet. I just leave the songs list in the alarm clock setting that way. This is a stupid bug.

    • Thanks for the thread, that looks like a lot of work to remove the song. And ironically I was also thinking the list was generated with the first an second most popular songs. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a single update yet.
